contemporary semi-abstract textile art by Mary-Clare Buckle, UK textile artist
Jack
I happened to have some fibres in red, white and blue -
which brought to mind the Union Jack.
This semi-abstract textile (fiber) art piece was made in 2001, before the Queen's Golden Jubilee, and was in my mind
because the British flag had, at last, become acceptable ... even fashionable.
It also has a political dimension, in that the piece shows
the flag almost unravelling - as the 'United' Kingdom could seem to be.
Thus, its original working title - 'Jack Falling Apart'.
